November 1 - GoCary Service Changes

Beginning November 1, GoCary will introduce two new routes, updated schedules, and a series of accessibility and infrastructure improvements throughout our system.

These service enhancements are part of GoCary's ongoing commitment to expand access, improve mobility, and strengthen regional connections between Cary, Apex, and Raleigh.  The updates will make it easier to reach key destinations safely and reliably.

Please see the changes below for each route.  Updated schedules will be posted to the Maps and Schedules page on November 1.

 

Route 1 - Crossroads will be realigned and operate on a new schedule, departing the Cary Depot at :15 and :45 past the hour Monday through Saturday.

Highlights:

  • Three new bus stops will be added along Crossroads Boulevard heading inbound to Downtown Cary.
  • One new stop will be added on Jones Franklin Road at Tryon Road near Sheetz.
  • Route 1 will continue to share bus stops with GoTriangle Route 305 along Dillard Drive at Meeting Street.

The following inbound stops on Dillard Drive will be removed:

  • Dillard Dr at Walnut St (ID: 1313)
  • Dillard Dr at Columbus Ave (ID: 1292)
  • Dillard Dr at Jones Franklin Rd (ID: 1274)

Route 1 Schedule

 

Route 2 - Cary-West Raleigh is a new local route connecting downtown Cary, NC State University Centennial Biomedical Campus (CBC), and the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.  

This route will include 38 stops along key corridors, including North Harrison Ave, NE Maynard Rd, Chapel Hill Rd, Corporate Center Dr, and Trinity Rd.

Highlights:

  • Improved access for students, faculty, and residents traveling between Cary and Raleigh.
  • Service to major destinations like the Lenovo Center, Carter-Finley Stadium, Drive Shack, and the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.
  • New connections to the NC State Wolfline system and GoRaleigh Route 27L for seamless regional travel.

Route 3 - Harrison will operate on a new schedule, departing the Cary Depot at :15 and :45 past the hour Monday thru Saturday.

To streamline service two bus stops will be discontinued:

  • N. Harrison Ave at Ashley Dr (ID: 11777) - the nearest stop is N. Harrison Ave at NW Maynard Rd (ID: 1362)
  • Harrison Oaks Blvd at Embassy Suites (ID: 11141) - the nearest stop is Harrison Oaks Blvd at N. Harrison Ave (ID: 11142)

 

Route 3 Schedule

 

Route 4 - High House will no longer enter the Maynard Crossing Shopping Center and instead will continue to serve existing bus stops along High House Road.

The following stops will be discontinued:

  • Maynard Crossing Shopping Center West Platform (ID: 11450) - the nearest stop is High House Rd at Maynard Crossing (ID: 11401)
  • Maynard Crossing Shopping Center East Platform (ID: 11017) - the nearest stop is High House Rd at NW Maynard Rd (ID: 11400)

 

Route 4 Schedule

 

Route 5 - Kildaire Farm will operate on a new schedule, with departures from the Cary Depot at :15 and :45 past the hour Monday thru Saturday.

Route 6 - Buck Jones 

The following stop will be discontinued:

  • Donaldson at Nottingham (ID: 1378) - the nearest stop is Nottingham Dr at Karen Ct (ID: 11027)

 

Route 6 Schedule

 

Route 7 - Weston will operate on a new schedule, with departures from the Cary Depot at :15 and :45 past the hour Monday thru Saturday.

 

Route 7 Schedule

 

Route 9 - Cary-Apex will transform the current Apex-Cary Express (ACX) into a local route with all-day service to 30 stops between Downtown Cary and Downtown Apex.

The route will travel along High House Rd, Old Apex Rd, and North Salem St.  This minor realignment will improve reliability and better serve regional connections and the surrounding community.

Highlights:

  • Direct connections with GoApex Route 1 and GoTriangle Route 305.
  • Improved access to major shopping centers and public facilities.

The Route 9 will not serve the Apex Park & Ride stop at Compare Foods (ID: 1450).  Instead, Route 9 will serve new stops at Center St (Apex Chamber of Commerce) and Mason St (Municipal Building) in Downtown Apex.

There are no changes to the DL - Downtown Loop at this time.

 

DL Schedule

 

To ensure a comfortable and accessible experience for all riders, all new and upgraded bus stops constructed on Routes 1, 2, and 9 comply with ADA accessibility standards and include lighting where possible. Additionally, 38 existing stops will be upgraded with new concrete boarding pads.

As part of GoCary’s commitment to pedestrian safety, construction is also underway for a new crosswalk with pedestrian signals at Walnut Street and Donaldson Drive.

Construction began in May 2025 and is expected to be completed March 2026. Updates will continue to be shared with the community throughout the process.
